Myofibroblast Stromal Cell Line, WPMY-1, like RWPE-1 cells (ATCC CRL-11609), derives from stromal cells in the surrounding region of the same adult prostate tissue slice. Stromal cells are immortalized with SV40 T antigens through a pRSTV material structure. WPMY-1 cells, like RWPE-1 cells and other epithelial cell-derived strains, belong to a family of cell lines derived from the same prostate. Because they originate from the surrounding region of the same prostate, the WPMY-1 cell line is particularly useful for studying secretion and stromal-epithelial cell interactions. According to the provider, RWPE-1 cell line (ATCC CRL-11609) derived from the same prostate was tested negative for hepatitis B, hepatitis C, and human immunodeficiency viruses. In this library, it is detected by STR.
