In 1964, the HT-29 cell line was isolated from the primary tumor by J. Fogh using a transplant culture method and F12 culture solution containing 15% FBS. Recently, cultured cells from established strains were cultured with mcCoy's 5a culture solution containing the same serum. This cell line is tumoritic in nude mice and can also be tumorigened in steroid-treated gophers. This cell line synthesizes IgA, CEA, a protein-bound secretion component of TGFβ and mucin. The STR identification in this library is correct.
