Hs 578T cell line originates from breast cancer. It originated in the same patient as the normal fibroblast-like cell line Hs 578Bst. The Hs 578T cell line was initially polygonal, but a star-shaped cell morphology was selected and cloned during passage. Casein granules are observed under electron microscopy for aggregation, bridging, tight junctions, liposomes and smooth endoplasmic reticulosicles. As with Hs 578Bst, no estrogen receptors and endophytic viruses were detected. The STR identification in this library is correct.
